BJMP, Iligan City / 2025-05-14

Last February 14, 2025, the Regional Training Center - Iligan, in collaboration with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Iligan City, held a meaningful graduation at Iligan City Jail. The event recognized the accomplishments of 88 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) who completed various Community-Based Training programs. This initiative marked the culmination of weeks of skills development and learning, aiming to equip the PDLs with practical competencies they can use for livelihood and reintegration into society. The graduates successfully completed training courses in Cooking and Tart Making, Organic Farming, Defensive Driving, Theoretical Driving Course, and Basic Automotive Starting System Troubleshooting and Repair. These programs were carefully designed to provide relevant and sustainable skills that would give the PDLs a fresh start and better opportunities after their release. The ceremony was attended by key figures from both TESDA and BJMP, including Jail Inspector Marivic D. Vergara, Jail Cadet Inspector Carmelo A. Corsame, TESD I Specialist Fe Ann A. Ambrad, and RTC-Iligan Center Administrator Sittie Aliah A. Limbao, who all showed strong support for the graduates. During the program, the guests highlighted the importance of second chances, personal growth, and continuous learning. They emphasized how education and technical training play a vital role in transforming lives, even within the walls of a correctional facility. The success of the event reflects the unwavering commitment of RTC-Iligan and BJMP Iligan City Jail to promote rehabilitation through education, and stands as a powerful reminder that everyone has the potential to change and contribute positively to society.
